Good Hike, Better Weather

Last February 3, I conquered my 2nd and 3rd mountain. We had a twin hike at Mt. Talamitam and Mt. Apayang in Nasugbu, Batangas. It was a 1.5 hour drive from Manila going to Nasugbu, which is ideal if you’re looking to hike for the first time but not really up to having to go with a group hike and meet up in QC at around 12 midnight then this is perfect for you.

It's been a year since my first hike, mildly influenced by my hike "savvy" cousin, I've been looking forward to my next hike since the first time, but I didn't want to go too far and go a level too high from what we did before. So naturally, my cousin looked for a lighter climb but still an adventurous one.

We usually hike with others. This time, Trinah, my cousin, invited her friend who brought along her godmother/cousin with her. Or more like they brought us along with them, since they provided the transportation.

We arrived at the jump off point at around 7:30 AM or 8. The thing is with this hike was it wasn't that high, but the path was a bit long, journeying through vast lands before we could reach the foot of the first mountain.

By 11:30 we were having lunch at the summit.

We took a short nap at Mt. Apayang after lunch. before hiking to the next summit for 30 mins.

There weren’t as much trees, unlike my first hike in Mt. Daraitan. If you were to hike here on a really hot day, chances are you’ll get super tanned and possibly have a heat stroke. But the best thing about this hike 2 months ago, was that it was cool. The weather was perfect, and although it drizzled a bit on our way back to the jump off point, the shower managed to stop and it became a little brighter again, but without the heat.

The whole trip cost around 500-800 per person if you’re chipping in with friends. And that’s if you don’t have dinner at Balai Dako. Which at that point, was really rewarding. We ordered kansi, kare-kare and grilled pork to fill us up, and had hot chocolate for dessert since it was getting really cold at around 6:30 PM.
